You are treading semi-dangerous ground here.
Pirating a keg from a beer store is relatively taboo / frowned upon. Not to say that it's impossible to get one.
The first step would be to try to get one legally:
1) Try calling Moccasin Bend Brewing, or BIg River, or one of the local distributors to ask for old kegs for sale to refit as a brew kettle. They can have damaged valves, spears, etc. that don't matter since you will be cutting that part out anyways.
2) Contact Bret Weber [ mr_blonde on this board ] to see if he has any at this time. He can weld, and has made some kettles for other club members before.
3) If that fails, eBay, junk yards, etc...
4) You can try calling SABCO in Toledo. They refit kegs for big breweries. Ask for Bob Sulier (president) and tell him that Tony GIannasi sent you! (NOTE: SABCO can be expensive, but they can cut the kettle, add in valves, dip tubes, etc... Professional quality)
Good luck!
Tony
